Hello, friend! I’m so happy you’re here!
I started this business because I am passionate about sharing the road map to a long, active and adventurous life! My education is rooted in movement - I hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master’s of Science in Biomechanics/Exercise Physiology. I earned certifications from NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) as a Certified Nutrition Coach and a Certified Personal Trainer.
The way our bodies move has always fascinated me! The science of nutrition is fairly new in the grand scheme of human science studies and throughout my fitness career, I’ve seen so many changes in what we view as “healthy”. Ultimately, healthy eating habits come from our emotional relationship with food, our stress levels and sleep, our physical activity of choice and its fueling requirements, and understanding your own body’s reaction to its diet.
I grew up in a fast food family business - and while it was full of amazing memories, my childhood was also filled with some misunderstanding of healthy food and portions. My mom is an incredible cook and truly kept our plates at home tasty and exciting! She has inspired a lot of how I eat today! Growing up in the south, however, volume eating and being sympathetic to not “disappoint” the cook by not cleaning the plate gave me some struggles with portion control. What I’ve learned, though, is that I can enjoy all of the foods I love and have learned that I love some other, more nutrient filled options more!
